Office Features
This single, world-class-facility was especially designed with efficiency and aesthetics in mind. We offer a computer check-in service for our patients and our assistants are immediately signaled of each patient’s arrival. We try to create a relaxed environment for our patients by playing soft music and encouraging interaction among our staff. We offer freshly brewed coffee and filtered water to our patients and parents. Our furniture is ergonomically designed for maximum comfort and there are a variety of magazines, newspapers, and books to read as well as videogames and movies to watch. A children’s play area with building blocks is also available in our waiting room. Our patients are treated in an open environment with a garden view.

Appointments
Our doctor-patient communication consists of both personal telephone calls as well as computer generated reminder calls. Furthermore, if an urgent after-hours emergency arises, we instruct our patients to call Dr. Dunwody’s pager to receive medical attention. Otherwise, we will schedule an appointment for them the next working day.
Patient Rewards
We have seasonal office contests for our patients throughout the year. Collecting smile cards through our Smile Rewards Program allows our patients to become eligible to win special prizes and gift certificates. Smile cards are earned by those patients who take exceptional care of their responsibilities during treatment.
State-of-the-Art Technologies
We perform orthodontics for both children and adults and offer comprehensive individualized treatment planning. In addition, we perform dentofacial orthopedics for children. Our diagnostic lab work enables Dr. Dunwody to statistically compare the growth and development and the balance of the face, the upper and lower jaws, and the teeth with computer-generated models. Articulators, or chewing machines, are used to analyze each patient’s bite. X-rays are made on a machine with the latest features available including rare earth screens fluorescing to minimize radiation exposure.
Our materials are the finest obtainable in orthodontics. All the cements contain fluoride to prevent cavities. Either clear or metal braces are available for your treatment. An indirect bonding technique is used to place braces more accurately. Also super elastic alloy wires are being used to align the teeth more quickly, efficiently and comfortably while reducing the usual number of appointments necessary to complete treatment, thus saving our patients and their families time and discomfort. Arch wires are individually customized for the shape of the patient’s face and tooth/lip relationship. Dr. Dunwody places artistic arch wire bends during the finishing stages of treatment for optimal aesthetics and function. Retention appliances are individually designed for each patient depending on their problem.
In regards to the state-of-the-art technology, our office utilizes sterilization techniques that surpass OSHA standards. All instruments are individually packaged and steam sterilized for your protection and ours. Additionally, autoclave function is monitored routinely.
